The role of the intergenerational transmission in human mate choice

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se zabývá studiem role mezigeneračního přenosu ve výběru part-nera. Vychází z psychoanalytické teorie výběru partnera, který předpokládá, že svého partnera si jedinec volí podle vzoru rodiče opačného pohlaví. Práce zkoumá podobnost partnera a rodiče opačného pohlaví u žen, a to v osobnostních charakteristikách dle pětifaktorového modelu osobnosti, citové vazbě a maskulinitě-femininitě. Pozornost je věnována také partnerským preferencím a jejich predikční validitě. Práce se zabývá taky rolí self-esteem, self-efficacy a kvality vztahu s otcem na celý tento proces. Vý-zkumný vzorek čítal 160 osob (79 žen, 42 partnerů a 39 otců). Výsledky poukazují na dílčí vliv vzoru otce na skutečnou volbu partnera a silný vliv homogamie na partnerské preference. Významnou roli v dílčích oblastech výběru partnera sehrává i self-esteem, self-efficacy a kvalita vztahu s otcem.

Abstract:

The present study deals with the role of intergenerational transmission in human mate choice. It is based on the psychoanalytic theory of partner selection, which assumes that one chooses a partner according to the pattern of a parent of the opposite sex. The thesis examines the similarity of partner and parent of the opposite sex in women, namely in personality characteristics according to the five-factor model, attachment and masculinity-femininity. Attention is also paid to partner preferences and their predicti-ve validity. The work also deals with the role of self-esteem, self-efficacy and quality of relationship with father in this process. The research sample consisted of 160 respon-dents (79 women, 42 partners and 39 fathers). The results point to the partial influen-ce of the father's pattern on the real partner choice and the strong influence of homo-gamy on partner preferences. An important role is played by self-esteem, self-efficacy and quality of the relationship with father in partial areas of partner selection.
