This thesis aims to discuss status of people with disabilities and terminology used in this field. It describes an approach of societies over centuries towards disabled person. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá postavením lidí se zdravotním postižením a terminologií používanou v této oblasti. Popisuje přístup společnosti k těmto lidem během století. Dále diskutuje několik vybraných nejčastěji používaných termínů a jejich definici podle 4 různých slovníků.
