Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá katalogizací, digitalizací a zpřístupněním mapové sbírky Geografického ústavu PřF MU. Po stručném popisu současného stavu mapové sbírky následuje kapitola, která se věnuje katalogizaci kartografických dokumentů. Další část popisuje samotnou digitalizaci, tj. výběr vhodného skeneru, formátu pro uložení dat, volbu rozlišení a barevné hloubky, dostupné metody pro uložení dat a georeferencování. Možnosti zpřístupnění starých map jsou ovlivněny i zněním Autorského zákona, který zároveň definuje autorskoprávní ochranu zveřejněné sbírky. Poslední část se věnuje možnostem zpřístupnění digitalizované sbírky online.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with cataloguing and digitization of the map collection of Department of Geography of The Masaryk´s University, as well as with ways of making the collection accessible to public. The work begins with a brief introductory description of the current condition of the collection and moves on to another chapter, dealing with cataloguing of geographical documents. In the following part, some practical aspects of the process of digitization are thoroughly examined. These include a careful choice of scanner, data storage format, preferred resolution and colour depth, available data storage method and georeferencing. Moreover, the options of publishing are limited by the copyright law, aimed at protection of the published collection. In its last part, the thesis inquires into the possibilities of online publishing of the collection.
