Preventing the Burnout Syndrome among Social Workers Caring for a Person with Alzheimer´s Disease

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce pojednává o smysluplnosti a užitečnosti práce, která je vykonávána pracovníky v sociálních službách, poskytující péči lidem postižených Alzheimerovou nemocí, která přináší řadu nesnází nejen pro samotné nemocné, ale také pro pečující personál. Ten je mnohdy vystaven vysokému stresu, napětí, vůči kterému by měl být odolný, měl by disponovat bezmeznou trpělivostí a měl by být seznámen s možnými krizovými situacemi, které při práci s takto nemocnými lidmi, mohou nastat. Jestliže tomu tak není, což se u někoho může projevit již po několika měsících nebo až za několik let, hrozí nástup syndromu vyhoření, jehož popisem, symptomy, možnostmi prevence a řešení se práce podrobně zabývá.

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis deals with the meaningfulness and usefulness of work done by social service workers providing care to people afflicted by the Alzheimer disease that brings a range of difficulties to the ill people alone as well as their care takers. They are often exposed to a high stress, a tension, they should be immune against, they should offer unbounded patience and should be familiarized with possible critical situations that may arise while working with such ill people. Otherwise, an onset of a burnout may be noticeable in some people already in a few months or after a few years. This work deals with the description, symptoms, pevention possibilities and solutions for the burnout.
