High-brightness LED emitters for photodynamic therapy

Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská práce podává přehled o léčebné metodě zvané fotodynamická terapie. Je zde krátce popsán princip této léčebné metody, její historický vývoj a souhrn výhod a nevýhod tohoto terapeutického procesu. Dále jsou v práci popsány obecné vlastnosti fotosenzitizérů a též někteří jejich zástupci využívaní v medicíncké praxi. Následující část je pak věnována stručnému popisu LED diody, která se zdá být velmi perspektivní pro využití ve fotodynamické terapii. V závěru se autor pokusil o nalezení vhodných LED diod pro určité fotosenzitizéry a jejich následné vzájemné srovnání.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis gives an overview of a treatment method called photodynamic therapy. It includes a brief description of the principles of this method, its historical evolution and a summary of the advantages and disadvantages of this therapeutic process. Furthermore,my work deals with the characteristics of photosensitizers and some of their examples used in medical practice. The following part is focused on a brief description of the LED, which seems promising for photodynamic therapy purposes. In conclusion, my aim is to find LEDs which are suitable for certain photosensitizers and to compare them.
