Small town in the suburbanized hinterland of Brno on the example of Šlapanice

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá malým městem v zázemí velkého krajského města. Cílem práce je analýza funkce a významu konkrétního města Šlapanice očima mladých obyvatel okol-ních obcí vymezené autorkou. Literární rešerše přibližuje problematiku suburbanizace, malých měst v rozvoji venkova a typologii venkova. Pro dosažení cíle byly zvoleny metody jako terénní výzkum, rozhovor se starostkou města a dotazníkové šetření mezi obyvateli vyme-zeného obvodu. Práce dále analyzuje město Šlapanice a šest vybraných spádových obcí z hlediska demografické situace, infrastruktury či společenského života a popisuje také jejich vzájemnou provázanost. Z dotazníkového šetření plyne pohled obyvatel na malé město, které je v blízkosti velkého města.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with a small town in the hinterland of a large regional city. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the function and significance of the specific town of Šlapanice through the eyes of young inhabitants of the surrounding villages defined by the author. The literature search introduces the issues of suburbanization, small towns in rural de-velopment and rural typology. To achieve the objective, methods such as field research, interview with the mayor of the town and questionnaire survey among the residents of the defined district were chosen. The thesis further analyses the town of Šlapanice and the six select-ed catchment villages in terms of demographic situation, infrastructure or social life and also describes their interdependence. The questionnaire survey reveals the residents' view of a small town that is in close proximity to a large city.
