The thesis presents history of English language with the focus on its vocabulary borrowed from other languages. It lists the languages which enriched English language and shows the historical events which caused the influence. This is covered in the theoretical part of the thesis. Tato diplomová práce představuje historii anglického jazyka se zaměřením na jeho slovní zásobu vypůjčenou z jiných jazyků. Práce obsahuje seznam jazyků, které angličtinu obohatily a poukazuje na historické události, které ovlivnily slovní zásobu. Toto je obsaženo v teoretické části práce.
