Abstract:

Předmětem této bakalářské práce je analýza úloha tří služek z Collinsových děl, konkrétně Marian Halcombe z románu Žena v bílém, Rosanna Spearman z románu Měsíční kámen a Sarah Leeson z románu Hrobové tajemství. Bakalářská práce se zabývá rozborem Mariany, Rosanny a Sarah jako klíčových postav jednotlivých knih a to pro jejich činy, které jsou rozhodující pro vývoj jednotlivých příběhů. Práce také pracuje s myšlenkou, že služky představují jeden typ postavy, která se opakovaně vyskytuje ve všech třech uvedených knihách. Cílem je poukázat na to, že Marian, Rosanna a Sarah mají několik podobných vlastností, a tudíž se zrcadlí jedna v druhé.

Abstract:

The objective of this thesis is to analyse the role of the three female servants that appear in Collins' literary works, namely: Marian Halcombe from The Woman in White, Rosanna Spearman from The Moonstone and Sarah Leeson from The Dead Secret. This thesis elaborates the subject of Marian, Rosanna and Sarah being the key characters in each individual novel, for the accomplishments and actions of these characters are crucial for the development of the stories. At the same time, the thesis examines the idea of these maids representing a single type of woman servant persona that reoccurs in the three above-mentioned books. It aims to show that Marian, Rosanna and Sarah share a number of similar characteristics, thus they mirror in one another.
