Wage Development in the Czech Republic in Relation to the Adoption of the Euro

Abstract:

Na pozadí konvergenčního procesu a v souvislosti s připravovaným vstupem České republiky k eurozóně se bakalářská práce zabývá mzdovým vývojem v České republice. Jsou diskutovány teoretické otázky týkající se těchto procesů. Určujícím faktorem růstu reálných mezd je produktivita práce a růst HDP, nominální mzdy obvykle reflektují s určitým zpožděním pohyb cenové hladiny. Dá se očekávat, že trend konvergence se postupně obnoví a že v období před vstupem do eurozóny se dále sníží odstup od průměrné cenové a mzdové hladiny. Díky predikovanému rychlejšímu růstu domácí ekonomiky oproti průměru eurozóny a díky trendu posilování kurzu koruny vůči euru by se průměrná mzda v ČR měla do roku 2016 zvýšit ze současných 36 % na úroveň cca 50 % průměru eurozóny. V uvažovaném období vstupu do eurozóny by nemělo dojít ani k nepřiměřenému či skokovému cenovému růstu ani k nepřiměřenému růstu mzdovému, což dokládají makroekonomické údaje z vybraných srovnávaných ekonomik.

Abstract:

Wage development has been assessed against the background of the convergence process and with relation to the accession of the Czech Republic to the euro area. Theoretical approaches have been used to study the relevant processes. Labour productivity and GDP growth are the determining factors in wage development; nominal wages usually reflect inflation, with a certain delay. It can be assumed that the convergence trend will be resumed and that, during the euro area accession period, the difference between average price and wage levels will be further reduced. As a result of the predicted more dynamic growth of the domestic economy compared to that of the euro area and the appreciation of the Czech crown, the average wage in the Czech Republic should, by 2016, have increased from the current 36% to about 50% of the euro area average. In the euro area accession period, it is anticipated that there will be no excessive or sudden price or wage increases, which is supported by macroeconomic data from selected comparable economies.
