Finding support during gestalttherapy - a case study of a client with depressive and anxious problems

Abstract:

Tato případová studie se zabývá otázkou aspektů a alternativ farmakoterapie, přičemž farmakoterapii chápe jako možný zdroj podpory. Předkládaným případem je psychoterapeutická léčba klientky s úzkostnými a depresivními potížemi se sklonem k somatizaci. Klientka užívá antidepresiva a anxiolytika a zároveň navštěvuje psychoterapii v gestalt přístupu. Tato práce vychází především z nahrávek psychoterapeutických sezení a rozhovorů po terapii, které proběhly vesměs v rámci jiného výzkumu. Přebírá koncept podpory z teorie gestalt terapie a optikou tohoto konceptu nahlíží na dostupná data. Pomocí tematické analýzy se snaží shrnout zásadní aspekty klientčina vztahu k farmakoterapii jako zdroji podpory a popsat alternativní zdroje podpory, které klientka v průběhu terapie nachází.

Abstract:

This case study examines aspects and alternatives of pharmacotherapy, while pharmacotherapy is seen as a potential source of support. The present case is the psychotherapeutic treatment of a client with anxiety and depressive problems with a tendency to somatization. The client uses antidepressants and anxiolytics while attending psychotherapy in the Gestalt approach. This work is mainly based on psychotherapy session recordings and interviews after the therapy, which took place mostly in the context of other research. The concept of support is adopted from theory of gestalt therapy. The available data is considerd by the lens of this concept. The aim of this study is, by using the thematic analysis, to summarize the essential aspects of the client's relationship to pharmacotherapy as a source of support and describe alternative sources of support which the client was finding during the therapy.
