Physiotherapy for persons diagnosed with schizophrenia

Abstract:

Úvod:Mnohými studiemi bylo ověřeno, že pohybové aktivity u pacientů s psychiatrickými diagnózami pozitivně ovlivňují duševní a tělesné zdraví. Cíl:Cílem práce je přispění k řešení problematiky volby vhodných fyzioterapeutických postupů, metod a konceptů u schizofrenních pacientů v průběhu hospitalizace. Metodika: V bakalářské práci je zpracována kazuistika pacienta s diagnózou paranoidní schizofrenie, který vlivem snížení kvality života v důsledku onemocnění a nesprávného životního stylu trpěl také obezitou. Na základě vstupního kineziologického rozboru, vstupního měření na přístroji InBody a šestiminutového testu chůze (6-MWT) byl stanoven krátkodobý fyzioterapeutický plán. Fyzioterapeutická intervence probíhala po dobu 12 týdnů, byla složená z 21 terapií, při kterých bylo využito různých konceptů a metod - myofasciální techniky, aktivní cvičení, Brűgger koncept, SM systém, aerobní trénink. Pacient z plánovaných 21 terapií absolvoval 16 terapií. Po nich bylo provedeno výstupní měření, testování, výstupní kineziologický rozbor a stanovení dlouhodobého fyzioterapeutického plánu. Výsledky: Uplatnění aerobního tréninku pomocí chůze na pásu a posilování oslabených svalových skupin vedlo u pacienta ke zlepšení stereotypu chůze, nárůstu segmentální svaloviny v oblasti trupu, snížení segmentálního tuku na dolních končetinách, snížení objemu vody a čisté hmotnosti těla bez tuku. Došlo ke zmenšení obvodů v oblasti dolních končetin a boků. Diskuze: Fyzická aktivita, ať už aerobní trénink či silový trénink, má pozitivní dopad u pacientů s duševním onemocněním na snížení negativních psychických funkcí, ale i zvýšení fyzické kondice. Závěr: Význam pravidelné pohybové aktivity u pacientů se schizofrenií je důležitý v rámci celkové rehabilitace. Pomocí fyzioterapie dochází k zlepšení fyzického, ale i psychického zdraví.

Abstract:

Introduction: It has been verified by many studies that physical activities for patients with psychiatric diagnoses positively affect the mental and physical health.Aim: The aim of this thesis is to contribute to solving problems of schizophrenic patients during hospital admissions with a focus on physiotherapeutic intervention.Methodology: This Bachelor thesis is focused on the case report of patient with diagnosed paranoid schizofrenia, who both from his illness and low quality of lifestyle suffered from obesity. Based on input kinesiological examination, input measurement on InBody device and the 6-minute walking test (6-MWT) the short-term physiotherapeutic plan was developed. Physiotherapeutic intervention was happening for period of 12 weeks and was consisting of 21 therapies, which used different concepts and methods - myofascial techniques, active exercises, Brűgger concept, SM systém, aerobic training. From the 21 planned therapies the patient attended 16 of them. After that the output examination, tests and output kinesiological examination was done and low-term physiotherapeutic plan was established.Results: The application of aerobic training by walking on a treadmill and strengthening of weakened muscle groups led a patient to improvement of his walking stereotype, increase in segmental muscle quantity in a trunk, reducing segmental fat on legs, reduction of water volume and net weight of body without fat and also reduction of circumference of lower limbs and hips.Discussion: Physical activity, whether aerobic training or strength training has positive impact for patients with mental illness. Reduces negative mental functions an increases their physical fitness.Conclusion: The importance of regular physical activity for patients with schizophrenia is important in the context of an overall rehabilitation. Using physiotherapy improves not only their physical but also a mental health.
