Abstract:

Diplomová práce Výuka angličtiny žáků prvního stupně ZŠ se zřetelem na výslovnost se zabývá výukou angličtiny jako cizího jazyka žáků na začátku jejich formálního vzdělávání na prvním stupni ZŠ a detailněji si všímá výuky výslovnosti jako nedílné součásti výukových aktivit. Tato práce analyzuje tři hlavní účastníky vzdělávacího procesu, jimiž jsou učitel, žák a učební obsah, v kontextu českého vzdělávacího systému a je rozdělena na dvě části. Teoretická část představuje podmínky pro učení/učení se angličtiny v Česku, zabývá se rolemi učitele a žáka a definuje funkce učebnic. Praktická část popisuje výzkumnou metodu, tj. náslech vyučovacích hodin, rozhovor s vyučujícím a zhodnocení obsahu učebnic, a předkládá výsledky výzkumu spolu s jejich analýzami. Každá kapitola obou částí obsahuje sekci, která se zabývá výslovností z různých úhlů pohledu. Výsledky výzkumu naznačují, že existuje prostor pro zlepšení přístupu, metod a postupů při výuce anglického jazyka žáků prvního stupně ZŠ, což by u těchto žáků mělo vést k získání přirozenější výslovnosti.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis Teaching English to Young Learners: Looking at Pronunciation deals with teaching English as a foreign language to pupils at the beginning of their formal education at primary schools, and in more detail, looks at teaching pronunciation as an integral part of the classroom activities. This thesis analyses the three main protagonists of the educational process, in other words, the teacher, learner, and content matter, within the context of the Czech education system and is divided into two parts. The theoretical part introduces conditions for teaching/learning English in Czechia, looks at the roles of the teacher and learner, and defines functions of the coursebook set. The empirical part describes the research method, i.e. classroom observations, an interview with the teacher, and evaluation of the coursebook set, and presents findings of the research along with their analyses. Every chapter of both parts includes a section dealing with pronunciation from various points of view. The results of the research indicate that there is room for improvement in approaches, methods, and procedures in English language teaching to young learners, which should result in acquiring more native-like pronunciation in the learners.
