The usage of the Raspberry Pi platform to automate smart home LED lighting

Abstract:

Teoretická část práce se zabývá chytrou domácností. Udává, z jakých prvků a technologií je tvořen základ takové domácnosti, aby se dosáhlo řádné funkčnosti a maximální spokojenosti koncového uživatele. Poukazuje na to, co je zapotřebí provést k implementaci chytré domácnosti v obydlí, jaké předpoklady mají být pro to splněny, na co si je potřeba dát pozor a jaké hrozby to s sebou může nést. Dále obsahuje analýzu dostupných řešení pro provozování chytré domácnosti a jejich následnou kategorizaci. Představuje různé oblasti domácnosti, pro které na dnešním trhu lze nalézt velké množství chytrých zařízení. Také se zaměřuje na to, jak chytrá domácnost zapadá do prostředí IoT a Cloudových služeb. Popisuje technologie využívané ke vzájemné komunikaci mezi jednotlivými prvky. Kromě toho zabíhá též do oblasti inteligentního osvětlení, jako podoblasti chytré domácnosti. V rámci toho jsou rozebrány používané principy a způsoby implementace, nutné potřeby pro takovou instalaci a vybavenost technického zázemí. Praktická část pojednává o sestrojení vlastního řešení k automatizovanému ovládání LED pásku. Toto řešení je založeno na minipočítači Raspberry Pi a volně dostupné platformě OpenHAB. Vstupními daty pro automatizaci jsou meteorologická data (východ a západ slunce), která jsou získávána z otevřeného meteorologického REST API. Na základě takto získaných dat dochází k jejich analýze a automatickému sepnutí LED pásku. Řešení také nabízí uživateli možnost manuálního ovládání LED pásku pomocí jednoduchého webového UI, které je vytvořeno prostřednictvím platformy OpenHAB.

Abstract:

The theoretical part of this thesis deals with a smart home. It tells us from which elements and technologies is the basis made to reach a proper functionality and maximum end-user satisfaction. It points out what is necessary for the implementation of the smart home, what preconditions have to be done, what to watch out for and what threats it may pose. It also contains an analysis of available solutions for the operation of the smart home and their subsequent categorization. It represents various areas of the household for which we can find a lot of smart devices on the market. It also focuses on how the smart home fits into the IoT and the Cloud services environment. It describes the technologies used for the mutual communication between the elements. In addition, it also runs into the field of the smart lighting as a sub-area of the smart home. It analyses the principles and methods of the implementation that are used, the necessary needs for such an installation and the equipment of the technical background. The practical part deals with the construction of the own solution for the automated control of the LED strip. This solution is based on the minicomputer Raspberry Pi and the freely available OpenHAB platform. The input data for the automation are the meteorological data (the sunrise and the sunset) which are obtained from the open meteorological REST API. Based on that data, they are analysed and the LED strip is automatically switched on. The solution also offers to the user the ability to control the LED strip by using a simple web UI that is created via the OpenHAB platform.
