Subjective experiencing of patients in the early post-transplant phase in the process of bone marrow transplantation

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit zkušenosti hematoonkologických pacientů v časném potransplantačním období v procesu transplantace kostní dřeně. Metodika: Výzkumný vzorek tvořilo 8 pacientů hospitalizovaných na hematoonkologické klinice. Sběr dat byl realizován prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s pacienty. Pro analýzu dat získaných v rozhovorech byla použita metoda otevřeného kódování. Výsledky: Výzkumem byly identifikovány zkušenosti pacientů, které byly seskupeny do 10 kategorií a 9 subkategorií. Základních 10 kategorií bylo pojmenovaných následně: Vedlejší účinky léčby, Způsoby odreagování se, Psychika pacienta, Zdroje podpory a motivace, Důvěra, Vliv léčby na rodinu, Diskomfort na reverzní izolaci, Potřeba informací, Vnímání budoucnosti a stanovení si cílů a poslední kategorie byla nazvána Víra. Závěr: Transplantace krvetvorných kmenových buněk je náročným procesem, který může negativně ovlivňovat všechny složky holistického přístupu k pacientovi. Porozumění zkušenostem pacientů, kteří tuto léčbu podstoupili, má potenciál přispět k poskytování kvalitní a bezpečné péče. Klíčová slova: hematoonkologie, transplantace kostní dřeně (hematopoetických kmenových buněk), subjektivní prožívání, psychologická zátěž, vedlejší účinky léčby, informovanost pacientů, adaptace na léčbu.

Abstract:

Objective: The aim of this work was to find out the experience of haematoenological patients in the early post-transplant period in the bone marrow transplantation process. Methods: Research sample consisted of 8 patients hospitalized at the hematooncology clinic. Data collection was conducted using semi-structured interviews with patients. The open encoding method was used to analyze the data obtained in interviews. Results: The research has identified patients' experience that have been grouped into 10 categories and 9 subcategories. The main 10 categories were named as follows: Side Effects of Treatment, Ways of Relaxing, Patient Psychology, Sources of Support and Motivation, Trust, Effect of Treatment on Family, Discomfort in Reverse Isolation, Need for Information, Perceptions of the Future and Setting of Goals, and last category was called Faith. Conclusion: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is a challenging process that can negatively affect all components of the holistic approach to the patient. Understanding experience of patients who have undergone this treatment has the potential to contribute to providing quality and safe care.
