Legal and illegal immigration, its effects and the immigration policy of the Czech government

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou legální a ilegální imigrace v České republice a migrační politikou české vlády. Cílem této práce je vyhodnotit současnou situaci migrace v České republice. Data pro Českou republiku byla čerpána zejména z Českého statistického úřadu a statistik vedených na ministerstvech České republiky, zejména ministerstva vnitra a zahraničních věcí a také z dat Policie České republiky. Zahraniční data byla čerpána zejména z World migration report 2020 a 2021. Dílčím cílem práce je také zjistit jaký vliv mělo zrušení vízové povinnosti na migraci z Ukrajiny, která je největší migrací do České republiky. V práci byly analyzovány zejména počty migrantů podle národností, kdy po celou dobu sledovaného období byla největší národnostní skupinou ta Ukrajinská a druhou největší ta Slovenská. Absolutní počty migrantů se zvýšily z 200 tisíc v roce 2000 na 660 tisíc v roce 2021, největší nárůst zaznamenaly zejména Ukrajinci a to z 50 tisíc na 196 tisíc a Slováci ze 44 tisíc na 114 tisíc, tyto dvě národnostní skupiny tak tvoří téměř polovinu všech migrantů v České republice. Byla zjištěna korelace mezi migrací a nezaměstnaností v ČR, kdy čím větší nezaměstnanost tím menší migrace a naopak, to souvisí zejména s nejčastějším typem migrace, tím je migrace ekonomická, respektive za prací, také bylo zjištěno, že stát pomáhá s migrací a zaměstnáváním cizinců skrze náborové programy. A také byla zjištěna korelace mezi zavedením bezvízového styku s Ukrajinou a nárůstem počtu cizinců z Ukrajiny.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of legal and illegal migration in the Czech Republic and the migration policy of the Czech government. The aim of this work is to evaluate the current situation of migration in the Czech Republic. Data for the Czech Republic were drawn mainly from the Czech Statistical Office and statistics kept at the ministries of the Czech Republic, especially the Ministry of the Interior and Foreign Affairs, and also from data from the Police of the Czech Republic. Foreign data were drawn mainly from the World Migration Report 2020 and 2021. A partial goal of the work is also to find out what effect the abolition of the visa requirement had on migration from Ukraine, which is the largest migration to the Czech Republic. The work analyzed the numbers of migrants by nationality, where throughout the period, the largest ethnic group was the Ukrainian and the second largest the Slovak. The absolute numbers of migrants increased from 200,000 in 2000 to 660,000 in 2021, the largest increase was recorded mainly by Ukrainians from 50,000 to 196,000 and Slovaks from 44,000 to 114,000, these two ethnic groups make up almost half of all migrants in the Czech Republic. A correlation was found between migration and unemployment in the Czech Republic, where the higher the unemployment, the smaller the migration and vice versa, it is mainly related to the most common type of migration, the economic, respectively for work, it was also found that the state helps with migration and employment of foreigners through recruitment programs. And a correlation was found between the introduction of visa-free travel with Ukraine and the increase in the number of foreigners from Ukraine.
