Food biology of crickets (Orthoptera: Grylloidea)

Abstract:

V této práci jsou shromážděny publikované informace týkající se biologie zástupců nadčeledi Grylloidea (Orthoptera) vyskytujících se na území České republiky, s důrazem na biologii a ekologii cvrčka polního (Gryllus campestris). Provedena byla pilotní analýza obsahu trávicího traktu druhu Gryllus campestris, přičemž bylo porovnáno zastoupení rostlinné a živočišné potravy v trávenině. Celkem bylo k analýze trávicího traktu použito 21 jedinců, z toho se jednalo o 10 nymf, 8 samců a 3 samice. Z reprezentativních vzorků byly připraveny trvalé mikroskopické preparáty, na základě kterých bylo zaznamenáno kvalitativní složení potravy. Složení potravy bylo u všech jedinců obdobné. Dominantní složku potravy tvořil rostlinný materiál, jednalo se většinou o rostlinná pletiva, pylová zrna či trichomy. Živočišné fragmenty byly v trávicím traktu jedinců zaznamenány minimálně, jelikož byly nalezeny pouze ve 4 vzorcích, kdy se jednalo převážně o části těl hmyzu. Samice přijímaly výrazně větší množství potravy než samci, ovšem nejvíce potravy konzumovaly nymfy.

Abstract:

Published information concerning biology of representatives of the superfamily Grylloidea (Orthoptera) was gathered in this Bachelor thesis. It was related to those living in the Czech Republic and the main focus was the biology and ecology of the Field cricket (Gryllus campestris). A pilot study of the contents of the gastrointestinal tract of Gryllus campastris was done. There were 21 individuals used for the analysis of the gastrointestinal track. These individuals consisted of 10 nymphs, 8 males and 3 females. Presence of plant and animal food in the gastrointestinal tract was evaluated. Microscopic preparations of the contents of the gastrointestinal tract were preparated from representative samples and the quantitative content of food was evaluated. The contents of food of all samples were very much the same. The plant material was the dominant component of food. There were mainly plant tissues, pollen grains or trichomes. There was only a minimum of animal fragments found in the gastrointestinal track of the individuals. Animal fragments were only in four samples and there were mostly insect body parts there. Females ingested much more food than males, though nymphs consumed the greatest amount of food.
