Globální krize nedostatku polovodičů - Proč vysoká poptávka není pokryta nabídkou, je to příznak větší krize, nebo samostatný problém?

Abstract:

Celosvětový nedostatek polovodičů (čipů) se stal nejvýznamnější součástí celosvětové krize dodavatelského řetězce, která otřásla světem společně s pandemií COVID-19. Důvodem je skutečnost, že polovodiče nikdy nebyly více potřeba, než jsou dnes. Nové automobily, telefony, grafické karty, procesory a další elektronické výrobky běžné spotřeby 21. století vyžadují stále větší počet polovodičů. Cílem této práce je zjistit, zda by k nedostatku polovodičů došlo i bez pandemie COVID-19 a zda by příčiny této krize mohly vést k podobným celosvětovým otřesům v zásobování dalších průmyslových odvětví. Cílem této práce je také poskytnout doporučení, jak tuto krizi co nejlépe řešit, a posoudit, zda byla globální reakce na krizi dostatečná a dobře cílená. Metodika použitá k vyvození odpovědí je komparativní prací spojující roztříštěnou a stále se vyvíjející literaturu o probíhající krizi s dalšími relevantními výzkumy do uceleného a logického celku. Výsledky této diplomové práce naznačují, že pandemie COVID-19 nebyla primární příčinou nedostatku polovodičů, ale kriticky zhoršila již tak napjatou situaci tohoto průmyslu. Hlavní příčiny nedostatku polovodičů se prolínají s komplexní povahou polovodičových výrobků. Práce nabízí tři hlavní doporučení pro polovodičový průmysl. Celkově lze říci, že globální reakce na krizi byla většinou dobře cílená, ale přesto je velmi nepravděpodobné, že by se nedostatek polovodičů podařilo vyřešit do roku 2024.

Abstract:

The global semiconductor shortage became the most prominent part of the worldwide supply chain crisis that has shaken the world together with the COVID-19 pandemic. This is because the importance of semiconductors has never been greater as new cars, phones, graphic cards, processing units, and other common-end products of the 21st century require an ever-increasing number of semiconductors to work correctly. this thesis explores whether the shortage would have occurred without the COVID-19 pandemic and whether the causes of this crisis will lead to similar global supply shocks for other industries. The thesis also aims to give recommendations on how to best solve this crisis and assess if the global reaction to the crisis was sufficient and well-aimed. The methodology used to conclude the answer is comparative work synthesizing shattered and still evolving secondary literature on the ongoing crisis with the primary sources of other, relevant research. The findings suggest that the COVID-19 wasn’t the primary cause of the semiconductor shortage, it was a catalyst for it. The core causes of the semiconductor shortage are intertwined with the complex nature of the semiconductor products. The thesis offers three recommendations for the semiconductor industry. Overall, the global reaction to the crisis has been mostly well targeted but it is very unlikely that the semiconductor shortage will be resolved before 2024.
