Human Body as a Medium (Documentary film)

Abstract:

Tvůrčí bakalářská práce se zabývá vztahem mezi lidským tělem a médii, především pak definicí lidského těla jako média, a to na pozadí vlastního autorského dokumentárního filmu Lidské tělo jako médium. Práce se skládá ze dvou částí - audiovizuálního díla a textové části. Audiovizuální část, třicetiminutový dokumentární film Lidské tělo jako médium, se snaží divákovi zprostředkovat vztah mezi lidským tělem a reklamou na pozadí světa bodypaintingu. Tento obraz přitom pomáhají utvářet umělci, kteří se tomuto umění věnují, modelky a aktéři ze soutěžního i uměleckého prostředí. Jejich optikou dokument sleduje nejen rivalitu a zároveň symbiózu mezi komerčním a uměleckým světem malby na tělo, ale také koncept samotného lidského těla jako média. Teoretická část práce se pak věnuje především vývoji konceptu těla jako média a jeho teoretickému ukotvení. Zároveň se snaží vymezit pojmy bodypainting a body art, které jsou základními stavebními kameny práce. V části praktické a metodologické je pak opisován průběh tvorby audiovizuálního díla a pozornost je věnována i jeho kritické reflexi.

Abstract:

This creative work deals with the relationship between the human body and the media, especially the definition of the human body as a medium, in the background of creative documentary film "Human body as a medium." The work consists of two parts - an audiovisual work and the theoretical text part. The audiovisual part, 30 minute long documentary film Human body as a medium, is trying to convey the relationship between the human body and advertising in the background of the world of bodypainting art. This image is shaped by artists who are dedicated to this art and also models and other people from the competitive and artistic environment of bodypainting. Documentary movie is therefore following by their point of view not only rivalry while symbiosis between commercial and artistic world of bodypainting but also the very concept of the human body as a medium. The theoretical part is then devoted mainly on the development of the concept of the body as a medium and its theoretical emplacement. It also seeks to theoretically define the terms bodypainting and body art, which are the basics of the thesis. The practical and methodological part of work then describe all the making process of audiovisual work and it pays attention to its critical reflection, too.
