Abstract:

Diplomová práce si klade za cíl analyzovat vybrané procedurální, konkurenční a liberálně normativní demokratické modely a názory na obsah pojmu ideální liberální demokracie a podmínky její legitimity. Autorka se pokusí diskutovat jejich možný vliv na reálnou praxi democracy promotion v současné mezinárodní politice OSN, OBSE a EU. Jednotlivé koncepty obsahu a významu demokratického zřízení budou vycházet mimo jiné z děl Josepha A. Schumpetera, Roberta Dahla, Iana Shapira, Steina Rokkana, Seymoura Lipseta, Larry Diamonda, Fareeda Zakarii, Thomase Carothese a Francise Fukuyamy. Vztah světa idejí s reálnou demokratizační praxí bude pro názornější uchopení tématu prezentován na příkladech demokratizačních programů vybraných mezinárodních organizací. Výzkum bude primárně kvalitativní a uplatňující metody vícepřípadové komparační studie. Autorka se pokusí zodpovědět následující výzkumné otázky: Jaké modely liberální demokracie můžeme podle vybraných autorů identifikovat? Jak se mezi sebou tyto koncepty liší? Existuje jasný vztah mezi demokratizačními procesy OSN, OBSE a EU a popsanými ideálními modely liberální demokracie?

Abstract:

The diploma thesis aims to analyze selected procedural, competitive and liberal normative democratic models and opinions on the content of the concept of ideal liberal democracy and the conditions of its legitimacy. The author will try to discuss their possible impact on the real practice of democracy promotion in the current international policy of the United Nations, the OSCE and the EU. The different concepts of the content and significance of the democratic system will be based, among other things, on the works of Joseph A. Schumpeter, Robert Dahl, Ian Shapiro, Stein Rokkan, Seymour Lipset, Larry Diamond, Fareid Zakari, Thomas Carothese and Francis Fukuyama. The relationship of the world of ideas with real democratization practice will be presented for exemplary democratization programs of selected international organizations for a clearer grasp of the topic. Research will be primarily qualitative and applying multi-case comparative study methods. The author will try to answer the following research questions: What models of liberal democracy can we identify according to selected authors? How do these concepts differ? Is there a clear relationship between the democratization processes of the UN, the OSCE and the EU and the ideal models of liberal democracy which were described?
