Postwar commemorial sites of the former Yugoslavia

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá realizacemi válečných pomníků zbudovaných po druhé světové válce na území Socialistické federativní republiky Jugoslávie mezi lety 19451992. Práce se zaměří na důvody a specifika svébytné vizuality tohoto typu objektů, které jsou pevně svázány s místem a dobou svého vzniku. Na vybraných realizacích od rozdílných autorů se práce pokusí demonstrovat šíři uměleckých přístupů, které se uplatnily při navrhování a následném budování pomníků. Diplomová práce také stručně nastíní soudobou situaci v tehdejší Československé socialistické republice a pokusí se o nalezení paralel mezi oběma zeměmi.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the implementation of war monuments built after World War II on the territory of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia between 1945-1992. The work will focus on the reasons and specifics of the distinctive visuality of this type of objects that are firmly tied to the place and time of its origin. On selected realizations from different authors, the work will try to demonstrate the width of artistic approaches that have applied when designing and subsequent building monuments. The diploma thesis also briefly outlines the contemporary situation in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and will try to find parallel between the two countries.
