Benefits of Art Subjects for the Lessons of History and Basics of Social Sciences in Upper Secondary Schools

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem Přínos uměleckých předmětů pro výuku dějepisu a základů společenských věd na středních školách pojednává o vybraných tématech historie 20. století týkajících se 2. světové války, kořenů totality a společenských věd a jejich možném propojení s výukou uměleckých předmětů na středních školách. Diplomová práce je rozdělena na dvě části, první část popisuje historické a kulturní pozadí zejména 1. poloviny 20. století, počátky nástupu nacistického režimu a jeho dopady na společnost a uměleckou scénu. Dále se zaobírá teorií umění, proměnami funkcí a rolí umění ve 20. století a vybranými umělci za nacistického Německa. Následně se teoretická část věnuje uměleckým předmětům ze vzdělávací oblasti Umění a kultura v rámci Rámcového vzdělávacího programu pro gymnázia, jejich přidané hodnotě v rámci povinného vzdělávání a průnikům s předměty vzdělávací oblasti Člověk a společnost (dějepis a občanský a společenskovědní základ). Druhá část zahrnuje pedagogickou teorii a praktickou část. Praktická část obsahuje návrh lekcí, jejichž hlavním tématem je recepce války ve společnosti a umění a kořeny totalitních systémů.

Abstract:

The thesis entitled The Contribution of Art Subjects to the Teaching of History and Social Studies in Secondary Schools deals with selected topics of 20th century history related to World War II, the roots of totalitarianism and social studies and their possible connection with the teaching of art subjects in secondary schools. The thesis is divided into two parts, the first part describes the historical and cultural background of the first half of the 20th century in particular, the beginnings of the rise of the Nazi regime and its impact on society and the art scene. It then discusses art theory, the changing functions and roles of art in the 20th century, and selected artists during Nazi Germany. Subsequently, the theoretical part focuses on art subjects from the educational area of Art and Culture within the framework of the Framework Curriculum for Grammar Schools, their added value within compulsory education and their intersections with the subjects of the educational area of Man and Society (history and civic and social sciences). The second part includes a pedagogy theory and a practical part. The practical part contains a proposal of lessons whose main theme is the reception of war in society and art and the roots of totalitarian systems.
