Dne 1. května 2004 se Česká republika stala členským státem Evropské unie a tím se i zavázala přijmout společnou měnu – euro. Jako ostatní uchazeči eurozóny musí i Česká republika splnit podmínky nominálních kritérií a sladit svou bankovní legislativu s eurozónou. Pevný termín přijetí eura je u nás však stále nejasný. In May 01, 2004 the Czech Republic has become new member of European Union and that way has engaged to accept common currency – Euro. Even Czech Republic has to fulfil conditions of nominal criteria as well as co-ordinate its bank legislation just like the other aspirants attempting to be taken to euro area.
