Case report of a patient suffering from Guillain-Barré syndrome

Abstract:

Cíle: Pro svou práci jsem si vybrala Kazuistiku pacienta trpícího syndromem Guillain-Barré, jejímž hlavním cílem je popsat a poukázat specifika ošetřovatelské péče u pacientů, kteří se s touto nemocí potýkají. Velký důraz je kladen nejen na informovanost laické veřejnosti (rodinných příslušníků), ale především zdravotnických pracovníků, kteří o pacienty s touto diagnózou pracují. Metoda: Byla zvolena metoda case study pro popis případu 62-letitého pacienta, kterému byl diagnostikován syndrom Guillain-Barré, jeho průběh a léčba v rámci jednotky intenzivní péče. Pro komplexní posouzení jsem použila model podle Virginie Avenel Hendersonové. Ze získaných informací bylo poukázáno na jeden z možných vývojů této nemoci, jeho průběh, nastálé i potencionální problémy, jejich cíle, plány a intervence. Závěr: Syndrom Guillain-Barré je poměrně často se vyskytující se onemocnění, postihující starší pacienty 55 let, s převahou mužské populace. Jeho počátky jsou velice snadno přehlédnutelné a jeho diagnostika je obtížně rozpoznatelná. Avšak léčba a ošetřovatelská péče je pro většinu pacientů velice příznivá, nejčastěji s navrácením k plnému zdraví, s minimálními komplikacemi. Bohužel, ne ve všech případech.

Abstract:

Objectives: For my work, I chose the case of a Guillain-Barré syndrome patient whose main goal is to describe and show the specifics of nursing in patients who are struggling with this disease. Great emphasis is placed not only on the awareness of the general public (family members), but above all the healthcare workers working on patiens with this diagnosis.. Methodoly: Its has been chosen a case study to describe the case of a 62-year-old patient diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, its course and treatment within the intensive care unit. For complex judgment, I used a model by Virginia Avenel Henderson. The information obtained revealed one of the possible developments of the disease, its course, current and potential problems, their goals, plans and interventions. Conclusion: Guillain-Barré syndrome is a relatively common disease affecting 55 years old, with the predominance of male population. Its beginnings are very easily overlooked and its diagnosis is difficult to detect. However, treatment and nursing care is most beneficial for most patients, most often with a return to full health, with minimal complications. Unfortunately, not in all cases.
