The Poetic Theatre of Jiri Frejka

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje dílu českého divadelního režiséra Jiřího Frejky v letech 1930 až 1939, kdy působil na scéně Národního divadla. Pokouší se mapovat rozdíl ve Frejkově režijním přístupu k jednotlivým složkám divadelního artefaktu ve studiových divadlech ve dvacátých letech a v Národním divadle v letech třicátých. Dále se pak soustředí na spolupráci tohoto významného režiséra se scénografem Františkem Trösterem, s nímž vytvořil několik zásadních inscenací, ve kterých dochází k přenesení avantgardních principů české meziválečné jevištní tvorby na scénu Národního divadla.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the works of Jiří Frejka, a Czech theatre director, in the years 1930 - 1939, when he was employed in The National Theatre. The thesis attempts to map the difference in Frejka´s approach as a director to the elements of theatre artefact in studio theatres in the 20´s and in The National Theatre in the 30´s. In addition, it deals with the co-operation of this outstanding director with the designer František Troster, with whom he created several important performances, in which the avant-garde principles of the Czech interwar theater are brought on the stage of The National Theatre.
