The beginnings and institutionalisation of electroacoustic music in the USA

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis discusses the beginnings of electroacoustic music in the United States, which were formed mainly in the 50's of the 20th century. It clarifies the local situation, which significantly differed from the situation in Europe, where were established the first experimental centers of electroacoustic music with institutional form and government support. The United States at first did not have such assistance or permanent establishment and therefore the profile of electroacoustic music in this country was shaped with different approaches and methods based on the efforts of individuals whose contribution was a new perspective to the field of electroacoustic music.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca pojednáva o začiatkoch elektroakustickej hudby na území USA, ktoré boli formované hlavne v 50. rokoch 20. storočia. Objasňuje tunajšiu situáciu, ktorá sa výrazne líšila od situácie v Európe, kde figurovali prvé experimentálne strediská elektroakustickej hudby s inštitucionálnou podobou a štátnou podporou. Spojené štáty zozačiatku nedisponovali takouto výpomocou, ani stabilnou organizáciou a preto sa profil elektroakustickej hudby v tejto krajine formoval odlišnými prístupmi a metódami založených na úsilí jednotlivcov, ktorých prínosom bol nový pohľad na oblasť elektroakustickej hudby.
