Circular economy in the coffee industry

Abstract:

Nechvátalová, T. Cirkulární ekonomika v kavárenství. Bakalářská práce. Brno: Men- delova univerzita v Brně, 2024. Tato bakalářská práce přibližuje koncept cirkulární ekonomiky, popisuje její zavedené směry a postupně se zaměřuje na kavárenský sektor. Cílem bylo identifi- kovat klíčové faktory pro úspěšné zavedení a dlouhodobé udržení modelu cirkulární ekonomiky v praxi. Výzkum byl prováděn na základě teoretických poznatků a empi- rických dat. K vyhodnocení byly použity polostrukturované rozhovory a techniky deskripce, analýzy a komparace. Výsledkem je přehled udržitelných kroků a souvi- sejících výzev. Vzhledem k nedostatečné podpoře ze strany vnějších subjektů, ne- mají tyto kavárny takovou motivaci pro implementaci cirkulárních postupů. Proto je klíčovým prvkem pro úspěšné zařazení tohoto cirkulárního konceptu nadšení provozního týmu.

Nechvátalová, T. Circular economy in the coffee industry. Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2024. This bachelor thesis introduces the concept of circular economy, describes its established directions and gradually focuses on the café sector. The aim was to identify the key factors for the successful implementation and long-term sustainability of the circular economy model in practice. The research was conducted on the basis of theoretical findings and empirical data. Semi-structured interviews and techniques of description, analysis and comparison were used for the evaluation. The result is an overview of sustainable steps and related challenges. Due to the lack of support from external stakeholders, these cafés are not as motivated to implement circular practices. Therefore, the enthusiasm of the operational team is a key element for the successful incorporation of this circular concept.
