The Bauhaus

Abstract:

This thesis deals with Bauhaus, the well-know German school of art. Main chapters are the following: Bauhaus´ structure, pedagogical principles and its most important representatives. The objective of this thesis was to find and describe influence of Bauhaus on the Czech art, find common influences and respected persons and to bring forward its importance for art formation and teaching. In addition, in separate chapters I deal with functionalism, which has the same roots and pioneers as Bauhaus and within its concept it takes over from Bauhaus. Functionalism as a style was quite soon and positively accepted in Bohemia and that is the main reason why I show above mentioned influence of Bauhaus. Next chapters describe the most important functionalist buildings in Prague, Brno and Zlín. Also, there is a list of German speaking and at that time in Prague working architects and projectants.

Abstract:

Anotace Tato diplomová práce se zabývá německou uměleckou školou, das Bauhaus. Hlavními kapitolami je její struktura, pedagogické principy a její zásadní představitelé. Cílem této práce bylo zjistit vliv školy na českou uměleckou scénu, najít společné vlivy a osobnosti a přiblížit její význam pro celosvětové zformování umění a jeho vyučování. Dále se pak v samostatných kapitolách zabývám funkcionalismem,který má stejné kořeny a průkopníky jako Bauhaus a ve svém pojetí přejímá vše co Bauhaus zastává a razí. Funkcionalismus byl stylem,který se poměrně brzy a dobře ujal v českých zemích a proto na něm názorně ukazuji již výše zmíněný vliv Bauhausu. V dalších kapitolách jsou představeny nejznámější funkcionalistické stavby ve třech městech a to Praha, Brno a Zlín. Za zmínku také stojí výčet německy hovořících v této době v Praze působících architektů a projektantů.
