Quality Criteria of Escape Rooms Located at Heritage Sites in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje fenoménu únikových her, který se objevil a nabral na popularitě během posledních deseti let, a studuje ho v prostředí památkových objektů České republiky, zúženém na hrady, zámky a tvrze. Cílem je objasnit okolnosti, důvody a proces vzniku takových her, a určit kritéria pro hodnocení jejich kvality. Text kromě studia dostupné literatury a dalších elektronických zdrojů obsahuje především analýzu čtyř únikových her na hradech a zámcích – na hradě Křivoklátu, zámku v Brandýse nad Labem, zámku Svijany a zámku Brtnice.

Abstract:

This master’s thesis focuses on escape rooms, a new industry which saw a great rise in popularity in the last ten years. The thesis studies escape rooms in the environment and context of heritage sites, specifically castles, chateaux and fortresses. It’s goal is to specify the proces of creation of these games, reasons for their existence at these sites, and define a list of criteria for assesment of their quality. The text contains a study of relevant literature and other sources, as well as analysis of four games located at castles and chateaux – the castle Křivoklát, chateau at Brandýs nad Labem, chateau Svijany and chateau Brtnice.
