Comparison of the Projected Physical Education Curriculum in Finland, Norway, Ireland and the Czech republic

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá srovnáním projektovaného kurikula tělesné výchovy Finska, Norska, České republiky a Irska na úrovni ISCED 1. Zjištění vyplývající z analýzy a komparace umožňují sledování kongruence obsahů tělesné výchovy a relevance ve vztahu ke kompetencím. Závěry práce jsou uváděny do souvislosti s revizemi a aktuální podobou RVP ZV. První část práce objasňuje kontext jejího vzniku a vymezuje teoretická východiska týkající se řešené problematiky. V další části jsou vysvětlena filozofická a metodologická východiska a následně cíle práce, výzkumné metody a pracovní postup. Výzkumným souborem jsou kurikulární dokumenty čtyř zemí – Finska, Norska, Irska a České republiky – které byly v těchto zemích platné v době vzniku disertační práce. Výzkumný zájem se týká především části dokumentů projektující tělesnou výchovu pro primární vzdělávání. Hlavním analýzám předchází analýzy pomocné: analýzy historického kontextu vývoje tělesné výchovy a analýzy vzdělávacího systému sledovaných zemí. Následují vlastní analýzy formální a obsahové stránky dokumentů. Formální stránka dokumentů byla sledována prostřednictvím vybraných formálních charakteristik. Pro analýzu obsahové stránky dokumentů bylo užito metody obsahové analýzy, přičemž byl induktivně vytvořen systém šesti oblastí. Syntézu získaných poznatků nabídne část práce, v níž provedeme komparaci sledovaných kurikulárních dokumentů. Porovnány jsou formální charakteristiky jednotlivých dokumentů a také jejich obsahy v šesti identifikovaných oblastech. Provedená komparace umožnila sledovat vnitřní kongruenci a koncepční orientaci dokumentů. Vnitřní kongruence byla vyšetřována jednak prostřednictvím souladu formálních charakteristik dokumentu, jednak pomocí provázání obsahových komponent – kompetencí – vzdělávacích cílů – vzdělávacího obsahu. Na základě míry kongruence jsme posuzovali relevantnost vzdělávacích programů a jeho praktikovatelnost. Koncepční orientace dokumentů byla posuzována ve vztahu k šesti identifikovaným obsahovým oblastem. Výsledky ukazují, že v obsahu sledovaných dokumentů existují oblasti, jejichž jádro je ve většině případů společné všem dokumentům. Dílčí rozdíly, například v chybějící oblasti či důrazu na určitou oblast, umožnily určit koncepční směřování daného dokumentu – sociální a personální oblast spolu s oblastí pohybových kompetencí (Finsko), oblast udržitelného rozvoje s vazbou na oblast zdravotní orientace (Norsko), oblast pohybových kompetencí rozvíjených prostřednictvím sportovních aktivit a technické přípravy (Irsko) a orientace na zdraví (v oblasti cílů) a na rozvoj pohybových kompetencí (ve vzdělávacím obsahu) v České republice. Jako kongruentní se ukázal finský a irský dokument. Norský dokument neprojektuje cíle a vzdělávací obsah zcela v souladu s kompetencemi. RVP ZV vykazuje nedostatečné provázání vzdělávacích cílů a obsahu. Z výsledků plyne, že především finský dokument, formálně i obsahově kongruentní, relevantní a praktikovatelný lze pokládat za cenný zdroj inspirace pro příští revize RVP ZV.

Abstract:

The dissertation thesis deals with the comparison of the projected curriculum of physical education in Finland, Norway, the Czech Republic and Ireland at the ISCED 1 level. The conclusions of the work are related to the revisions and the current form of the FEP BE. The first part of the thesis clarifies the context of its origin and defines the theoretical basis for the problem. The next part explains the philosophical and methodological background and then the objectives of the work, research methods and workflow. The research set consists of four curricular documents – from Finland, Norway, Ireland and the Czech republic, which were valid in these countries at the time of the formation of the dissertation thesis. The research interest mainly concerns with the part of the documents designing physical education for primary education. The main analyzes are preceded by auxiliary analyzes: analyzes of the historical context of the development of physical education and analyzes of the educational system of the monitored countries. The following are the main analyzes which were carried out at formal and content levels of the documents. The formal aspect of the educational documents was examined on the basis of selected formal characteristics. Content analysis was used to analyze the content of the documents, inductively creating a system of six areas. The synthesis of the obtained results is offered by the part in which we compare the curricular documents. The formal characteristics of the documents are compared, as well as their contents in the six identified areas. The comparison made it possible to monitor the internal congruence and conceptual orientation of the documents. The internal congruence is examined both through the interconnection of the formal characteristics of the document and through the interconnection of content components – competencies – educational objectives – educational content. Based on the degree of the congruence, we assessed the relevance of educational programs and its practicability. The conceptual orientation of the documents was assessed in relation to the six identified content areas. The results suggest that there is a common core in the content of all the documents. Some differences, for example the missing content area or emphasis on a certain area, made it possible to determine the conceptual direction of the document – the social and personnel area together with the physical competence (Finland), the sustainable development with the health orientation (Norway), the physical competence developed through sports activities and technical training (Ireland) and the orientation on health (aims) and the development of physical competences (educational content) in the Czech Republic. The Finnish and the Irish dokument proved to be congruent. The Norwegian document does not design the objectives and educational content in the congruence with the competencies. FEP BE shows insufficient connection of the educational aims and the content. The results show that the Finnish document in particular, congruent in terms of formal and content levels, relevant and practicable, can be considered as a valuable source of inspiration for the next revisions of the FEP BE.
