Psychosocial Needs of Patients with Thermal Injury

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá psychosociálními potřebami pacientů s termickým poraněním. Má tři základní cíle. Prvním cílem práce je zjistit, jaké jsou psychosociální potřeby pacientů s termickým poraněním. Druhým cílem je zjistit, jakými způsoby mohou zdravotnická zařízení přispívat k uspokojování těchto potřeb. Posledním cílem práce je zjistit, zda se u zkoumaných osob (pacientů s termickým poraněním) potvrdí protektivní působení konstruktu sociální opora. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí ? teoretické a praktické. Teoretická část bakalářské práce je východiskem pro část praktickou. Teoretická část práce je tvořena třemi kapitolami. První kapitola se zabývá nejdůležitějšími faktory ovlivňujícími závažnost popáleninového traumatu (mechanismus vzniku, rozsah postižení, věk pacienta, hloubka postižení atd.), je zde stručně popsána jeho přednemocniční a nemocniční léčba a uvedeny jsou zde rovněž jeho možné psychické následky. Druhá kapitola se věnuje lidským potřebám, v jejím rámci jsou zdůrazněny zejména potřeby psychosociální. Konstruktem sociální opory se zabývá poslední kapitola teoretické části práce. V praktické části práce je využito kvalitativní výzkumné strategie. Hlavní technikou sběru údajů jsou polostrukturované rozhovory s pacienty standardních oddělení dvou Popáleninových center (FN Brno, FN Ostrava). Doplňující techniku tvoří dotazník.

Abstract:

This Bachelor's Thesis focuses on the psychosocial needs of patients with thermal injuries. It has three basic aims. The first aim is to identify the psychosocial needs of patients with thermal injuries. The second aim is to determine how health-care facilities can contribute in satisfying these needs. The last aim is to ascertain whether the studied persons (patients with thermal injuries) show signs of the protective effect of the social support construct. The Thesis is divided into two parts ? a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part of this Bachelor?s Thesis forms the basis for the practical part. Three chapters constitute the theoretical part. The first chapter discusses the most important factors influencing the gravity of a burn trauma (the mechanism of origin, the extent of the injury, the age of the patient, the depth of the injury, etc.). It briefly describes pre-hospital and hospital treatment of such burn traumas and provides an overview of the possible psychological impact such an injury may have. The second chapter is devoted to human needs; it focuses mainly on psychosocial needs. The last chapter of the theoretical part discusses the social support construct. Qualitative research strategies are applied in the practical part. The main data collection technique used was semi-structured interviews with patients in the standard wards of two burn centres (Teaching Hospital in Brno, Teaching Hospital in Ostrava). A questionnaire was used as a supplementary technique.
