Factors affecting the service life of passenger car headlamps

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o problematice degradace plastových krytů čelních světlometů osobních automobilů. Úvodní část rešerše je věnována základním fyzikálním vztahům a možným zdrojům světla používaných u čelních světlometů. Následující kapitoly jsou věnovány konstrukčnímu rozdělení světlometů a adaptivním systémům. Zmíněny jsou také základní možnosti údržby a kontroly světlometů. V experimentální části práce jsou zkoumány vlivy vybraných kapalin na povrch plastových krytů světlometů, včetně testování pevnosti materiálu v tahu na zkušebním trhacím stroji a také praktické ukázky renovace světlometů.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the problematic of degradation of plastic headlight avers of passenger cars. The introductory part of the research is devoted to the basic physical relationships and possible light sources used in headlight. Subsequent chapters are focused on headlight construction division and adaptive systems. Basic maintenance and inspection options for headlights are also mentioned. In the experimental part of the thesis the effects of selected fluids on the surface of plastic headlight covers are investigated, including tensile strenght testing of the material on a tear test machine as well as practical examples of headlight restoration.
