Testing the success of technical analysis on the currency pair EUR/USD

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá testováním úspěšnosti obchodní strategie, která je sestavená na základě individuálně zvolených parametrů. Strategie využívá nástroje technické analýzy ke zjištění vývoje kurzu na devizovém trhu. V teoretické části popisuje základní charakteristiky FOREXového trhu a nástroje které se dají využít k analýze minulého vývoje kurzu. Praktická část popisuje nejdůležitější body, které je třeba určit před testováním strategie. Cílem celé práce je zjistit, zda je strategie zisková a jakým způsobem by se její úspěšnost mohla zvýšit. K testování je použitý demo účet a historická data vybraného brokera. V závěru jsou shrnuty statistiky obchodů a vyhodnocení celé strategie.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis aims to test the success of trading strategy based on individually selected parameters. The strategy uses technical analysis tools to predict the future exchange rate of a given currency pair. Theoretical part describes base characteristics of the FOREX market and tools that are used to analyse historical data. The practical part describes the most essential parts of the strategy that need to be determined at the beginning of backtesting. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether the strategy is profitable and what steps could improve the success rate. The demo account of chosen broker is used for backtesting. The statistics at the end of the thesis summarize and analyse collected data.
