Abstract:

Tématem práce je diferencovaná výuka předmětu angličtiny jako cizího jazyka v heterogenní třídě druhého stupně základní školy. Teoretický rámec práce se věnuje charakteristice heterogenních tříd, jejich obvyklým úskalím a také jejich možným přínosům. Podrobně je popsána cílová vzdělávací skupina mladých adolescentů a jejich učební specifika. Dále se hovoří o rozdílných způsobech a preferencích při učení, včetně žáků se zvláštními vzdělávacími potřebami a žáků nadaných. Nakonec se do hloubky popisuje diferencovaná výuka, její principy, charakteristiky a druhy. Empirická část práce aplikuje teoretické poznatky v akčním výzkumu, který proběhl v heterogenní skupině žáků sedmé třídy. Jádrem aplikovaného výzkumu je diferencovaný týden, během nějž probíhala výuka angličtiny výhradně za využití principů diferencovaného vzdělávání. Při kvalitativním výzkumu se využila kombinace metod, především však metoda pozorování, jejímž prostřednictvím se zjišťovalo, jak žáci na diferencovanou výuku reagují, zda tento typ výuky může přispět ke zlepšení atmosféry ve třídě, zvýšení zájmu a motivace žáků a zda je s tímto přístupem učení celkově efektivnější. Výsledky výzkumu jsou podané ve formě evaluace jednotlivých hodin a jednotlivých vybraných žáků.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the topic of differentiated instruction in the subject of English as a second language in a lower-secondary heterogeneous class. The theoretical framework discusses the characteristics of heterogeneous classes, their common problems and their possible benefits. The target group of young adolescent learners and their specific learning characteristics are described in detail. Learner differences, including pupils with specific learning differences and gifted pupils, are characterised. Finally, differentiated instruction is described, including its principles, features and types. The empirical part of the thesis applies the theoretical background in an action research conducted in a heterogeneous class of seventh-grade pupils. The core of the applied research is a differentiated week, during which pupils received carefully prepared differentiated instruction in their English classes. The qualitative research employed various methods, most importantly observation, to find how the pupils respond to differentiated instruction and whether this type of instruction can be beneficial in improving the atmosphere in class, increasing the learners´interest and motivation and overall, making the learning more effective. The results are presented in the form of an evaluation of the individual differentiated lessons as well as selected individual learners.
