General and Practical Nurses' Knowledge of Patients' Rights

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje problematice práv pacientů a jejich znalostem mezi všeobecnými a praktickými sestrami. Cílem práce bylo zjistit úroveň znalostí všeobecných a praktických sester, porovnat jejich znalosti a určit, zdali má úroveň vzdělání a délka praxe vliv na znalosti práv pacientů.Teoretická část obsahuje stručnou historii práv pacientů u nás i ve světě, vztah mezi etikou a právem, legislativní normy upravující práva pacientů, samotná práva pacientů, týkající se zejména práva na respekt a důstojnost, souhlas či nesouhlas s péčí, práva na ochranu osobních údajů a krátce také povinností pacientů. Praktická část práce obsahuje výsledky výzkumu, realizovaného technikou dotazníku. Výzkumu se účastnily praktické a všeobecné sestry pracující na lůžkových odděleních. Jejich znalosti byly dle předem stanovených kritérií vyhodnoceny jako nízké.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis pursues the issue of patients' rights and the knowledge about these rights among general and practical nurses. The aim of this word was to determine and compare the level of knowledge of general and practical nurses, regarding patients' rights, and to find out whether or not the nurses' level of education and length of practice has an impact on the knowledge in the area of patient's rights. The teoretical part of the thesis is comprised of a brief history of patients' rights in out country and the world, the relationship between ethics and law, legislative standards governing patients' rights, patients' rights in general but especially their rights to respect and dignity, information, consent or refusal to care, right to personal data protection, and also briefly the responsibilities of the patients. The practical part contains the results of a research carried out using the questionnaire survey. The participants in this research were practical and general nurses currently working in various hospital departments. Their knowledge was evaluated as low, according to predetermined criteria.
