Typology of Social Innovations in Foreign Libraries

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zmapovat sociální inovace v zahraničních knihovnách. Pro uvedení do problematiky je nejprve poskytnut náhled na koncept sociálních inovací, jejich vývoj a definice subjektů z různých oblastí. Ve vývoji sociální inovace se práce soutředí na popsání průniku základních vlastností sociální inovace s hodnotami v dnešní společnosti, jako je otevřenost, sdílení a kooperace. Na těchto hodnotách je poté dále v práci postaven argument pro vhodnost provázání konceptu sociálních inovací s komunitní knihovnou. Dále je zmíněn design služeb jako důležitý prvek návrhu sociální inovace a příklady možných přístupů k designovému procesu. V další kapitole je definován koncept sociálních inovací v knihovnách a popsán související koncept komunitní knihovny. Na obojí je pohlíženo jako na příležitost k posílení role knihovny ve společnosti. V hlavní části práce jsou popsány konkrétní příklady sociálních inovací v zahraničních knihovnách rozdělené do čtyř kategorií podle role knihovny a jejího přínosu komunitě.

Abstract:

This work aims to map social innovation in foreign libraries. First of all, for an insight into the concept of social innovation, its development and the definition of subjects from different areas are provided. In the development of social innovation, work is centered on describing the intersection of the basic features of social innovation with values in today's society, such as openness, sharing, and cooperation. On these values are then built an argument for the suitability of linking the concept of social innovation with the community library. The service design is mentioned as an important element of the proposal of social innovation and examples of possible approaches to the design process are included. The next chapter defines the concept of social innovation in libraries and describes the related concept of a community library. Both are seen as an opportunity to strengthen the library's role in society. The key part of the thesis describes specific examples of social innovations in foreign libraries, which are divided into four categories according to the role of the library and its contribution to the community.
