The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Historical-Geographical Analysis

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce provází historicko-geografickou analýzou konfliktu mezi Izraelem a Palestinou. V první části nás seznámí s vývojem oblasti ve starověku a středověku. Následuje historicko-geografická analýza konfliktu od jeho počátku po současnost. Se zaměřením na demografický vývoj oblasti, změny rozlohy jednotlivých územních celků, dopady konfliktu na hospodářství a vliv zahraniční politiky a mezinárodních organizací. Ve druhé části se seznámíme se vztahy států a mezinárodních organizací na jedné straně a stranami konfliktu na druhé. Hlavní důraz je kladen na postavení České republiky, USA, EU, OSN a dalších. Poslední část práce se zabývá dotazníkovým setřením na území města Plzně. V této části se zaměřujeme na subjektivní vnímání konfliktu mezi Izraelem a Palestinou. Výsledky dotazníkového šetření spolu s komentáři jsou rovněž součástí bakalářské práce.

Abstract:

This Bachelors thesis is an analysis of the Israeli-Palestine conflict in a historical geographical setting. In the first part, the thesis looks into how the area developed in the Ancient times and middle ages, looking at the historic- geographical aspects of the conflict from its start to present times. It focuses on the demographic evolution of the area and the various changes in boarders between the states, including the impact on local economy, the influence of international organizations and global politics resulting from this conflict. In the second part, the thesis looks at the relationship between the various impotent world powers and the conflict. The mine focus is on the relationship that the states have with the Czech Republic, USA, European Union, United Nations and others. In the last part, the thesis looks at the analysis of the survey conducted in the city of Plzen, Czech Republic. The questions look at the subjective personal responses to the conflict, which are graphed and analyzed to help understand what people in Plzen think about the conflict.
