Abstract:

Cílem předložené disertační práce je prozkoumání možností využití elektronických médií v galerijním a muzejním prostoru, a to s důrazem na nová revoluční technologická řešení virtuální a augmentované reality v tomto prostředí. Technologický pokrok teprve v roce 2016 umožnil vznik prvních masově produkovaných hardwarových řešení systémů virtuální reality. Ty poskytují prostor pro realizaci nových druhů inovativních interaktivních projektů v oblasti zprostředkování umění. Teoretická část textu přibližuje vývoj zprostředkování umění a kulturního dědictví skrze elektronická zařízení a konkretizuje jej vybranými příklady z praxe. Dílčím cílem teoretické části práce je představení cesty technologického vývoje k technologiím virtuální a augmentované reality, které mají potenciál stát se vyústěním vizuální kultury západní společnosti založené na internetu a technologiích. Objasnění tohoto potenciálu je v teoretické části práce realizováno uvedením těchto technologií do širších souvislostí celkového vývoje společnosti. Konkrétní současné příklady využívání elektronických médií a technologií virtuální a augmentované reality v muzejní a galerijní praxi mi umožnily připravit půdu pro výzkumnou část práce složenou z rešerše cílící na získání názorů leaderů velkých technologických firem na tyto technologie, kvantitativních výzkumů realizovaných formou dotazníkových šetření v institucích a mezi studenty a absolventy zájmových oborů studia a dále kvalitativního výzkumu realizovaného formou strukturovaných rozhovorů s vybranými jedinci z oboru zkoumání. Cílem výzkumu je ověřit nastíněné možnosti praktického využití technologií popsaného v teoretické části disertační práce a potvrdit nebo vyvrátit autorovy předpoklady o revolučnosti těchto technologií.

Abstract:

The aim of the dissertation thesis is to explore possibilities of using electronic media in the galleries and museums; with an emphasis on new revolutionary technological solutions of virtual and augmented reality in this space. Technological progress in 2016 enabled the emergence of the first mass-produced hardware solutions of virtual reality systems. Those systems provide ground for the realization of new types of innovative interactive projects in the field of art mediation. The theoretical part of the text draws attention to the development of the mediation of art and cultural heritage through electronic devices and gives specific examples of their practical use. The partial aim of the theoretical part is to present the path of technological advancement to the systems of virtual and augmented reality, which have the potential to become the outcome of the visual culture based on the Internet and technologies of the Western society. Explanation of this potential is realized in the theoretical part of the thesis by putting these new technologies in the broader context of the global development of the society. Actual examples of the use of electronic media and virtual and augmented reality technologies in museum and gallery practice prepared the ground for the research part of the dissertation thesis. Firstly, the research is aimed at collecting the opinions about augmented and virtual reality from interviews with leaders of large technology companies. Secondly quantitative research conducted through questionnaires in institutions and between students and graduates in the field of interest helped to target the problem. Finally qualitative research realized in the form of structured interviews with selected individuals from the field of study created broader knowledge base of the problem. The aim of the research is to verify the outlined possibilities of the practical use of the technologies described in the theoretical part of the dissertation thesis and to confirm or disprove the author's assumptions about the revolutional potential of these technologies.
