Personality and Work of a Textile Designer Antonín Kybal

Abstract:

Cílem práce je monografie významného umělce Antonína Kybala, který ovlivnil textilní návrhářství ve 20. století. Práce si na začátku klade otázku, proč to byl právě Kybal a v čem se jeho metody lišily od jeho současníků. Součástí práce je životopis; rodinné poměry totiž ve velké míře ovlivnily jeho další vývoj. Pocházel z rodiny s textilní tradicí. Druhým stěžejním obdobím byla studia na UPŠ, která mu dala dobré výtvarné vzdělání, jež si ještě rozšířil přednáškami na KU. K uvědomění si potřeby tvořivě pracovat ho zřejmě dovedlo lidové umění v době, kdy maloval přírodu a venkovský lid. Pak už byl jen krůček k tomu, aby si založil vlastní ateliér pro práci výzkumnou - textilně výtvarnou. Po válce své praktické zkušenosti také předával nastupující generaci výtvarníků, období jeho působení na VŠUP bylo velice plodné, stal se tvůrcem vlastní "Kybalovy textilní školy".

Abstract:

The goal of the work is to write a monography of a distinguished Czech artist, Antonín Kybal, who had considerably influenced Czech textile design in the 20th century. At the beginning the author asks the question why especially Kybal was so influential and in what ways his methods differed from the methods of his comtemporaries . A part of the work is also Kybal´s biography because is was especially his family background - he came from a family with a long textile tradition - which had to the great extent influenced his future developement. The next important period in his life was his studies at the School of Applied Arts in Prague, where he obtained a solid art education, which he subsequently broadened by giving lectures at the Charles University in Prague. The period when he painted nature and country folk motives led him to awareness of his need to work more creatively. After that there was only a small step to establishing his own art studio of textile design research. After the World War II he also shared his practical experience with the incoming generation of textile designers; his teaching period at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague was very fruitful; in fact, he established his own "Kybal textile school".
