Operation Wrath of God

Abstract:

Smyslem a cílem této práce je poskytnout přehledný obraz odvetných akcí, které následovaly po masakru 11 izraelských reprezentantů na XX. letních olympijských hrách v Mnichově v roce 1972. Souhrnné a obecně užívané označení pro tuto izraelskou odvetnou operaci je Operace Boží hněv. V první části práce je představena palestinská teroristická organizace Černé září, její vznik, struktura, napojení na další organizace a uskutečněné akce a útoky před Mnichovským masakrem v roce 1972. V další části je chronologicky vylíčen průběh masakru na Olympijských hrách v Mnichově, okolnosti, které mu předcházely a skutečnosti, které nastaly bezprostředně po jeho konci. Práce se dále zabývá rozhodnutími vrcholných izraelských představitelů a následnými událostmi, které vedly ke vzniku samotné Operace Boží hněv. Jsou zde představeny důvody, cíle a náplně této odvetné operace. V jednotlivých kapitolách jsou popsány vybrané lidské cíle určené k fyzické likvidaci na základě domnělé nebo skutečné spojitosti s plánováním a uskutečněním Mnichovského masakru. V závěrečné části práce jsou shrnuty následky, úspěchy a nezdary po ukončení operace. Jsou zde předneseny rozpory, které existují mezi původním záměrem a smyslem celé odvetné operace a jejím skutečným průběhem a provedením.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the Israeli Operation Wrath of God. The purpose of this thesis is provided a clear reflection of the reversal actions that followed after the massacre of eleven Israeli Olympians at the 20th Summer Olympic Games in Munich in 1972. It is divided into three main parts. The first part of the thesis introduces the Black September Organization that was a Palestinian terrorist group within Fatah. Its creation, structure, links with other organizations and realized actions and attacks before the Munich Massacre in 1972. In the second part of the thesis is briefly drawn the course of the massacre at the Olympics in Munich, preceded by events that occurred immediately after its end. The thesis also deals with the decisions of the top Israeli representatives and the subsequent events that led to the creation of the Operation Wrath of God itself. The individual chapters in the third part of the thesis describe selected human targets for physical destruction based on the assumed or actual connection with the planning and realization of the Munich Massacre. The final part of the thesis summarizes the consequences, successes and failures after the surgery. Here are the contradictions that exist between the original intent and the sense of the entire averted operation and its actual course and execution.
