Anotace:

Tato práce se zabývá fenoménem transgeneračního přenosu traumatu v autobiografických dílech Amerického indiánského spisovatele Shermana Alexieho. Práce si klade za cíl nejen čtenáře informovat o konceptu transgeneračního přenosu traumatu a jeho implikacích působících uvnitř Amerických indiánských komunit, ale rovněž skrze názornou aplikaci této teorie na dvě díla výše jmenovaného autora (The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me: a Memoir) odkrýt sociálně-psychologické mechanismy tohoto jevu v rámci Amerických indiánských narativů.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the phenomenon of transgenerational trauma transmission in selected autobiographical writings of Native American author Sherman Alexie. The thesis strives to inform the reader of the concept of transgenerational trauma and its implications among Native American communities, but also to reveal the socio-psychological patterns of the trauma theory operating in Native American narratives. The analysis is carried out through the application of transgenerational trauma concepts on two of Alexie’s works (The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me: a Memoir).
