Trombone as a solo instrument from the perspective of a composer

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřuje na dvě vybrané kompozice pro sólový trombon. První z nich je skladba trombonisty a skladatele Alberta Mangelsdorffa “Bonn“ z jeho sólového alba “Tromboneliness“ (1976). Druhou skladbou je “Keren“ Iannise Xenakise z roku 1986. Cílem práce je nejen analýza vybraných děl, ale také porovnání různých kompozičních přístupů. Dalším bodem je také popis rozšířených technik, které jsou v jednotlivých skladbách použity.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on two selected compositions for solo trombone. The first one is a composition by trombonist and composer Albert Mangelsdorff "Bonn" from his solo album "Tromboneliness" (1976). The second piece is "Keren" by Iannis Xenakis from 1986. The aim of this thesis is not only to analyze the selected works, but also to compare different compositional approaches. Another point is also a description of the extended techniques used in each piece.
