Monitoring of biogeomorphological processes on river bars of the Odra River

Abstract:

V rámci vědní disciplíny biogeomorfologie vzniká v posledních letech mnoho prací na téma říčních monitoringů. Snahou těchto prací je vyvození, do jaké míry vegetace ovlivňuje říční procesy a jak významné je její místo ve fluviálním systému. Tato práce zkoumala říční lavice na řece Odře v CHKO Poodří. Během ročního monitoringu, který probíhal mezi prosincem 2021 a prosincem 2022, byl na třech vybraných lavicích průběžně mapován stav vegetace a velikosti klastů. Dále byly dvakrát změřeny příčné profily lavic a barevně označeny klasty pro zpozorování rychlosti jejich transportu. Zároveň proběhlo i fytocenologické snímkování. Výsledná data prokázaly, že vegetace dokáže aktivně ovlivnit transport a akumulaci klastů, pokud je druh vytrvalý a tvoří souvislé trsy či kolonie. Samotná kolonizace lavic druhy není závislá na dodávce semen proudem a expanze probíhala rychle i v nadprůměrně suchém roce. Na lavicích dominovaly druhy Phalaris arundinaceae a Persicaria hydropiper. Výsledky jsou diskutovány a porovnány s příbuznou literaturou.

Abstract:

Within the scientific discipline of biogeomorphology many works on the topic of river monitoring have been created in the recent years. The aim of these works is to deduce to what extent vegetation affects fluvial processes and how important is its place in fluvial system. This work examined river alluvium on the Oder River in CHKO Poodří. During the one year monitoring, which took place between December 2021 and December 2022, the state of vegetation and the size of clasts were continuously mapped on three selected alluviums. Furthermore, the transverse profiles of the bars were measured and clasts were color-coded to monitor speed of their transport. At the same time, phytocenological imaging took place. The resulting data proved that vegetation affects the trasport and accumulation of clasts if the species is persistent and forms continuos clumps or colonies. The colonization of the alluvium by the itself is not dependent on the supply of seeds by flow, and the expansion takes place quickly even in above-average dry year. Phalaris arundinaceae and Persicaria hydropiper were the dominant species on aluviums. The results are discussed and compared with related literature.
