Interweaving of visual arts and literature in the work of Group 42

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá prolínáním výtvarného umění a literatury (zejména poezie) v tvorbě umělecké skupiny – Skupiny 42. Z motivů, které se objevovaly v uměleckých dílech Skupiny 42, se práce zaměřuje na holičství a kadeřnictví a na zadní trakty činžáků, dvory a pavlače. Tyto městské motivy práce mapuje a analyzuje jak v tvorbě básníků, tak v tvorbě malířů. Konkrétně se práce zaměřuje zejména na báseň Josefa Kainara Stříhali do hola malého chlapečka a na stejnojmenné obrazy malíře Bohumíra Matala. Autorka zkoumá okolnosti vzniku obou děl a demonstruje na nich vztahy mezi obrazem a textem. Práce dále rozebírá motiv holičství a kadeřnictví v obrazech Karla Součka a Jana Kotíka a v básních Jiřího Koláře.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the interweaving of visual arts and literature (especially poetry) in the work of the Czech artistic group – Group 42 (Skupina 42). Among the motifs that appeared in the artworks of Group 42, the thesis focuses on the barbers and hairdressers and the rear tracts of tenement houses, courtyards and access galleries. The author of the thesis maps and analyses these urban motifs in the works of both poets and painters. In particular, the thesis focuses on Josef Kainar's poem They Cut Off the Little Boy's Hair and the paintings of the same name by the painter Bohumír Matal. The author of the thesis examines the circumstances of the creation of both artworks and demonstrates the relationship between image and text. The thesis also analyses the motif of the barbers and hairdressers in the paintings of Karel Souček and Jan Kotík and in the poems of Jiří Kolář.
