Vitamin D je mimo své klasické zapojení v homeostázi vápenatých kationtů a metabolismu kostí významný regulátor imunitních reakcích. Vitamin D is apart from its classical involvement in homeostasis of calcium ions and bone metabolism a major regulator of immune reactions. Insuficiency and deficiency of vitamin D were previously associated with increased susceptibility of individuals to disturbed immune responses, including chronic and autoimmune disorders.
