The Czech Republic and the adoption of the euro

Abstract:

V současné době bylo v České republice přijetí eura, jakožto společné evropské měny, kvůli pandemii covid-19 takzvaně přesunuto na vedlejší kolej. Téma „Česká republika a přijetí eura“ je stále aktuální, ačkoliv se na první pohled může zdát, že není na pořadu dne. Na problematiku přijetí eura má spousta lidí odlišné a radikální názory, které nebývají zcela podložené a srozumitelné. Euru nelze za jeho 22 let existence odepřít obrovský vzrůst a vývoj. Jeho rozvoj vedl k rozkvetu celé Evropy. Této měně dnes můžeme jen stěží popřít jeho značné postavení v rámci světových měn. Proč jej tedy tolik Čechů stále odmítá? Pro účely této práce byl stanoven hlavní cíl a dílčí cíle. Hlavním cílem je popsat přípravy na zavedení eura v České republice a zhodnotit možné klady a zápory přijetí eura u nás. K dosažení hlavního cíle přispějí dílčí cíle, které se týkají teoretické rešerše na dané téma, volby správné metodiky, provedení dotazníkového šetření, detekování připravenosti České republiky a jejich občanů na vstup do eurozóny a návrhy na zlepšení výchozí situace.

Abstract:

Nowadays, the adoption of euro as the official currency in the Czech Republic has been so-called sidelined due to the covid-19 pandemic. The topic "The Czech Republic and the adoption of euro" is still relevant, although at first sight it may seem that it is not on the agenda. Many people have different and radical views on the issue of adopting euro, which are not always fully substantiated and understandable. A huge growth and development of euro can’t be denied in its 22 years of existence. Its development led to flourishing of Europe. Today, we can hardly deny this currency’s considerable position in world currencies. So why are so many Czechs still rejecting it? For the purposes of this work, the main goal and sub-goals were set. The main goal is to describe the preparations for the introduction of euro in the Czech Republic and to evaluate the possible pros and cons of adopting the euro in our country. To achieve the main goal, sub-goals will contribute, which relate to a theoretical search on the topic, choosing the right methodology, conducting a questionnaire survey, detecting the readiness of the Czech Republic and its citizens to join the euro area and proposals to improve the initial situation.
