Gender differences in management

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou genderových rozdílů mezi muži a ženami v managementu. Jejím cílem je zanalyzovat současnou situaci zmíněné problematiky a rovněž tímto způsobem upozornit na nerovné postavení mužů a žen na trhu práce. V teoretické části jsou všeobecně charakterizovány klíčové pojmy z oblasti genderu v managementu, jako je například samotný management, gender, gender pay gap, genderové role a stereotypy nebo genderová diskriminace. Dále se věnuje potenciálu žen manažerek, bariérám kariérního růstu u žen a v neposlední řadě uvádí, proč se vyplácí genderová rovnost. V praktické části je realizován vlastní kvalitativní výzkum formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se ženami v manažerských pozicích. Cílem tohoto výzkumu je vytvořit si představu o tom, jak je na situaci genderové nerovnosti ve světě managementu nahlíženo z perspektivy žen manažerek, jak tuto problematiku manažerky vnímají a jaké mají s genderovou nerovností zkušenosti.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of gender differences between men and women in the management. Its aim is to analyse the current situation of this issue and to draw attention to the unequal position of men and women in the labour market. The theoretical part generally characterises key concepts in the field of gender in the management, such as management itself, gender, a gender pay gap, gender roles and stereotypes or gender discrimination. It also deals with the potential of women as managers, the barriers to the advancement of women managers and finally states why gender equality is effective. In the practical part of this thesis a qualitative research is performed in the form of semi-structured interviews with women managers. The aim of this research is to picture the conception of how the situation of gender inequality in the management is viewed from the perspective of women managers, to find out how women managers perceive this issue and what experience they have with gender inequality.
