The influence of selected external and internal determinants on the level of short-term and long-term indebtedness of Czech and French ICT companies

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je zjistit vliv vybraných vnějších a vnitřních determinantů na finanční strukturu českých a francouzských podniků patřících do ICT průmyslu. Analyzované období je 2010–2017. Podniky jsou rozděleny dle své velikosti na střední a velké a zároveň na výrobní a poskytující služby. Vybranými determinanty jsou rentabilita, likvidita, struktura aktiv, tempo růstu HDP, míra inflace a referenční úroková sazba. První část se zabývá nadefinováním oblasti zdrojů financování a literární rešerší, ve které lze vidět možné dopady jednotlivých determinantů na výši zadlužení. Další část obsahuje popis odvětví, dat, cíle práce a proměnných. Následuje charakteristika použitých metod, které jsou jednak statisticko-ekonometrické (korelační a regresní analýza) a jednak z oblasti strojového učení (shluková analýza a rozhodovací stromy). Poslední část zahrnuje výsledky vybraných analýz a doporučení, přičemž hlavním zjištěním je skutečnost, že výše krátkodobého a dlouhodobého zadlužení vybraných společností je nejvíce ovlivněna rentabilitou, likviditou a strukturou aktiv.

Abstract:

The aim of the master thesis is to determine the influence of selected external and internal determinants on the financial structure of Czech and French companies belonging to the ICT industry. The analysed period is 2010–2017. Companies are divided according to their size into medium and large, as well as manufacturing and providing services. Selected determinants are profitability, liquidity, asset structure, GDP growth rate, inflation rate and reference interest rate. The first part deals with defining the area of funding sources and literature overview in which you can see the possible influences of individual determinants on the level of debt. The next part contains a description of the industry, data, aim and variables. The following are the characteristics of the methods used, which are statistical-econometric (correlation and regression analysis) and in the field of machine learning (cluster analysis and decision trees). The last part includes the results of selected methods and recommendations, while the main finding is the fact that the level of short-term and long-term debt of selected companies is most affected by profitability, liquidity and asset structure.
