he Bachelor's thesis is aimed at Nick Hornby and the depiction of contemporary Britain in his work. The theoretical part consist of Hornby's Biography and describes all of his works and projects. It comprises also a summary of one of his most sucessfull novels "About a Boy". The summary is further analyzed in the practical part. Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na Nicka Hornbyho a zobrazení současné Británie v jeho dílech. Teoretická část se skládá z Hornbyho biografie a popisuje veškerou jeho tvorbu a projekty. Obsahuje také shrnutí jednoho z jeho nejúspěšnějších románů "Jak na věc". Obsah je dále analyzován v praktické části.
