Leadership theory in a financial consulting company

Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce je vymezení role leadera a předložení doporučení ke zvýšení jejich efektivity ve finančně poradenské společnosti. Teoretická část obsahuje definici a historický vývoj leadershipu. Vymezuje styly vedení a teorie vůdcovství. Dále definuje pojem leader jako takový, zkoumá rozdíl mezi managementem a leadershipem a zabývá se také formami výsledku jednání, které řadíme do šesti paradigmat. Tato paradigmata jsou využívána nejen v jednání s lidmi, ale zároveň jako životní postoje. Teoretické část také pracuje s pojmem motivace, kterou musí leader ovládat. Termín motivace je v práci definován a dále je s ním pracováno v praktické části, zejména v doporučeních. V teoretické části bakalářské práce je popsán přístup k měřitelnosti efektivity leadera, který je použit i v části praktické. Hodnocení leaderů proběhlo ve společnosti Partners Financial Services, a.s. a vychází z kvantitativního výzkumu. Pro získání dat byla využita metoda dotazování ve formě dotazníků, které obsahovaly otevřené otázky. Výběrový soubor tvořil 90 respondentů. Hodnocení efektivity leaderů bylo provedeno pomocí dvou přístupů, aby byly výsledky co nejobjektivnější – sebehodnocení (leadership self-efficacy) a hodnocení od členů týmu (leadership emergence). Na základě výsledků dotazníkového šetření vznikla doporučení, připomínky a postřehy pro leadery, co ve svém týmu zlepšit, co změnit, ale také co například ponechat, aby byli co nejefektivnější ve vedení lidí.

Abstract:

The subject of the bachelor’s thesis is to define leader’s role and create recommendations to increase their financial consulting company’s effectiveness. The theoretical part contains the definition of leadership, its historical development and describes the styles and theories of leadership. Furthermore, the theoretical part defines who the leader is, the difference between management and leadership and the forms of negotiations. These outcomes can be classified into six paradigms, which are used not only in dealing with people, but also as life attitudes. The concept of motivation, that the leader must master is describes in the theoretical part and is further used in the practical part, especially in the recommendation section. Moreover, the theoretical part describes how to measure the leader‘s effectiveness, which is also used in the practical part. The leaders were evaluated in a company named Partners Financial Service, a.s. The evaluation was based on quantitative research. To obtain data, the method of questioning in the form of questionnaires that contained open questions was used. The sample consisted of 90 respondents. The evaluation of leader‘s effectiveness was demonstrated using two criteria to make the results as objective as possible – leadership self-efficacy and team member’s assesment (leadership emergence). Conclusions of the questionnaire survey formed recommendations, comments, and observations for the leaders on what to improve within their team, what to change, but also what to keep unchanged to be as effective as possible in the people leadership.
