Accelerated radiotherapy in rectal tumor during a pandemic

Abstract:

Má bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem karcinomu konečníku a zejména jeho léčbou, především ionizujícím zářením. V teoretické části se zaměřuje zejména na souhrnný popis anatomie rekta, následně detailně rozebírá problematiku kar-cinomu konečníku (diagnostika, léčebná strategie aj.). Samotné kapitoly jsou věnovány radioterapii, technikám, zdrojům a frakcionaci. V praktické části se práce sou-středí na sledování a vyhodnocování léčebných výsledků neoadjuvantní radiote-rapie u pacientů s nádory konečníku. Konkrétně se bude věnovat analýze účinnosti této formy léčby v závislosti na stádiu onemocnění, typu radioterapie a dalších faktorech. V první řadě budou vyhodnoceny rozdíly ve výsledcích léčby krátkého kurzu radioterapie 5x5 Gy versus dlouhý kurz radioterapie 28x1,8 Gy se součas-ně podávanou konkomitantní chemoradioterapií. K tomu využívá statistických metod a klinických dat získaných z nemocničních záznamů.

Abstract:

My bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of rectal cancer and its treatment, pri-marily with ionizing radiation. In the theoretical part, it focuses on a summary description of rectal anatomy, followed by a detailed analysis of rectal cancer issues, including diagnosis, treatment strategies, and others. The chapters them-selves are devoted to radiotherapy, techniques, sources, and fractionation. In the practical part, the thesis focuses on monitoring and evaluating the treatment out-comes of neoadjuvant radiotherapy in patients with rectal tumors. Specifically, it will analyze the effectiveness of this form of treatment depending on the stage of the disease, type of radiotherapy, and other factors. Firstly, differences in treatment out-comes between a short course of radiotherapy of 5x5 Gy and a long course of radiotherapy of 28x1.8 Gy with concomitant chemoradiotherapy will be evaluat-ed. This will be accomplished through the use of statistical methods and clinical data obtained from hospital records.
